Talk less, say more
Writing with an eraser is a practice i picked up this year. It has been an epiphany to move into the the path of being brain friendly. In all honestly your brain doesn't like too much information. The main job of your brain is to stop thinking. As ironical as it sounds, that is all it wants to do. Thinking just guzzles a lot of energy and your brain's function is to be efficient with energy usage. So anything that is heavy on thinking, your brain will trick you to think faster or take you to the end line by skipping all details. You can run 42.8kms in your brain in less than 2 seconds but in reality it will take you a lot of energy to run that marathon. So my point is, give your brain less processing work. Allow it to save energy deliberately. Talk less and say more. Use less words. The best way to accomplish this is by using visuals.
I needed a project to do some serious practice else i will slack. So i wanted to write an adult picture book filled with complex yet powerful big ideas that will transform a human being inside out. I called that project as Design U and started talking less and saying more. Check out my dedicated blog for Design U here which publishes one idea every day.
This month end I am giving a keynote on the same topic to Google WTM (Women Tech Makers) Community on this topic and i am super excited! Here is a teaser on those lines...
It is funny that our brain sees words as visuals and eyes see words as words! This is why u can read word or wrod correctly.
